Nonprofit Landscapes
A 2002 report assessing the size and impact of nonprofit organizations in 9 Northeastern counties. The study reports on the actual and potential scope of services and operations and how nonprofits in the region are faring. This report was sponsored by the Shasta Regional Community Foundation and the Grant and Resource Center, with funding provided by The McConnell Foundation.
Recommendations to Increase the Postsecondary Education Opportunities
A 2002 report of the California Postsecondary Education Commission analyzing current barriers to providing postsecondary education opportunities with the Superior California region and providing options and recommendations for reducing those barriers and increasing postsecondary education opportunities in the region. This report builds upon and supplements the Northern California Higher Education Needs Assessment. The California Postsecondary Education Commission adopted this report on December.

Rural College Opportunity: A Shasta and Siskiyou County Perspective
A 2001 report by the University of California assessing both the major obstacles to increased four-year college participation for high school graduates in Shasta and Siskiyou Counties and the current college culture conditions in two counties’ high schools. It also includes a comparison of alternative potential models of increased UC outreach in the two counties.

The Northern California Higher Education Needs Assessment
A 2001 assessment of student higher education learning needs, employer workforce training needs, and community higher education needs in Modoc, Lassen, Shasta, Tehama, and Trinity counties in northern California. This assessment was funded by The McConnell Foundation.

Vital Signs: A Report on the Quality of Life in Shasta and Tehama Counties
A 2001 report identifying key community indicators reflecting long-term economic, environmental, individual, and social conditions affecting the quality of life in the two counties. Each section contains a summary of strengths and concerns. This report is a publication of the North State Institute for Sustainable Communities, a non-profit community organization funded by The McConnell Foundation.
