Recognizing the importance of quality childcare as the foundation of the cradle-to-career roadmap, Cradle to Careers for Siskiyou and SiskiyouWorks coordinated with additional county partners, creating the Siskiyou County Childcare Taskforce to increase and improve childcare in Siskiyou County communities. Partners in the taskforce include the Karuk Tribe, Happy Camp Community Action, Siskiyou Childcare Council, and First Five Siskiyou. These efforts have resulted in trainings for improved care and mentorship opportunities for family daycare providers, the re-opening of College of the Siskiyous’ Discovery Preschool, and an increase from zero to 25 childcare openings in Happy Camp, California.
