People Who Build Community Downtown

 In Blog, Community Vitality, Uncategorized

The “community” part of Community Vitality (the name of The McConnell Foundation’s program area focused on downtown revitalization) is driven by the people who care about downtown, invest in downtown, and build a sense of belonging downtown.

That is why The McConnell Foundation is featuring the faces of community members in downtown Redding as part of our monthly series in Enjoy magazine.

Here is a behind the scenes view of our upcoming piece for Enjoy Magazine: Northern California Living, featuring Tyler Faires of 1800 Pine, an office building designed to encourage and support small business in downtown–particularly creatives.

Think: filmmakers, photographers, artists, web designers etc.

This shot shows photographer & designer, Kathleen Downs of Market Street Marketing at work. She creates the series of features for Enjoy magazine and together with her husband Richard is an investor in downtown Redding herself.

Past Enjoy features have included Jake Mangas of Redding Chamber of Commerce, John Truitt of Viva Downtown, Debra Lucero of Shasta County Arts Council, Sam LaRobardiere of Theory Collaborative, and Armando Mejorado of Armando’s Gallery House, as well as the Downtown Business Watch block captains: Terri Moravec, Tyler Faires, Ted Palfini, Tre Green, and Eric Niver.

The people of downtown build community vitality, and for them we are grateful.
